If you've been exploring the world of music production on YouTube, chances are you've come across the beatmaking chronicles of Maxeyy. Based in Oulu, Finland, Maxeyy has been steadily building a name for himself demonstrating his versatile production style through a unique series of challenges on his YouTube channel—ranging from artist/producer styled cook-ups from the likes of Metro Boomin and Playboy Carti, Kanye West and Key Glock, to global sample flips using Samplette that have inspired and connected new listeners to his page from across the world. His ability to navigate seamlessly between regions and genres has caught the attention of both artists and fellow producers alike. If you’re looking for the best fly-on-the-wall beat making experience from start to finish, void of B.S. commentary and sales pitches, be sure to give Maxeyy a follow.

Check out our exclusive interview below to get a closer look at his creative process, musical influences, and what fuels his passion for making music.

  • Producer Name: Maxeyy

  • Hometown: Finland 🇫🇮

  • Currently Resides In: Finland

  • Describe the moment that inspired you to get into music production:

I started out wanting to be a rapper haha (classic producer story), and I remember remaking the beat from the song "Broccoli" by Lil Yachty on Logic and being so hyped about what I've just made and listening to the cowbell sounds, etc., on Logic, realizing that these are the same sounds being used in actual songs. I just got so inspired to start trying to make my own stuff for myself.

  • Who are your top 3 producers of all time? Metro Boomin, Kanye West and the goat Nick Mira

  • Do you have any routines or rituals before starting a session? I always cook up in the morning after a run and breakfast. I start the day by going on a run, and I always listen to music during the run. Whatever I listen to usually inspires what I'm making each day.

  • How would you describe your signature sound? I don't think I have a signature sound at the moment. I'm kind of all over the place as I'm still learning a lot, but I guess one thing I try to get across in all my beats is a kind of hard, energetic vibe.

  • What's on that master bus 👀? Rn im experimenting with nothing on it haha but usually this.

  • If you could only use three plugins for the rest of your career, what would they be? Serato Sample, Fruity Parametric EQ, and Omnisphere. Thats all I really need

  • What is a must-have drum kit every producer should have?

My V8 Stash😉 which you can find HERE. The best kit i've made so far. Has everything I need to make some hard trap beats to some dark boom bap beats.

  • What’s your most recent project? Only big song I've recently gotten is a Yuno Miles song, and that came from a guy stealing my beats, uploading them on YouTube, and that way getting to Yuno haha. The song is called "In My Zone."

  • How do you know when a track is finished? When I feel exhausted, when I've given it everything that I can think of—all the ideas—and I can't think of anything else to add to it.

  • Which producers would you love to collaborate with? Metro Boomin, Metro Boomin, Metro Boomin

  • What's a song you wish you had produced? Its unreleased but the Ye song "Highs and Lows" that beat is absolutely amazing

  • What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received about music production? To never stop.

  • If your sound was a movie, which film would it be? I don't watch any movies ever so I have no clue haha

  • What is a fun fact about you? I actually hate any kind of sound outside of music and producing lol. I think it might have something to do with blasting my ears with beats and sounds all day on headphones—my ears have gotten more sensitive. The slightest sounds annoy me so much lol. After making beats, I'm just trying to be in silence.

  • What’s your long-term vision? I just want to keep making beats. I want more work on my plate, more reasons to make beats. The biggest goal with everything I'm doing is to eventually work in the music industry—to create songs and everything around that. I want to be involved in everything from the music to the production, to the music videos and visuals, and even merch, etc. I want to help bring the ideas of the biggest artists to life. I hope that in the next 5-10 years, I'm working in the industry. That's the main goal.

  • Where can people hear your music and connect with you?

You can catch me cooking up beats on YouTube HERE.
